This is one of my favourite plants  - not only because it is a very useful plant for shady spots where nothing else will grow or beside ponds but also because its looks great with the seed heads bowing in the wind (even better if reflected in the water of a pond) and a calming effect as the breeze rustles its leaves,

Sowing Guide

• Sow indoors from November to March 
• Direct sow outside from March
• Indoors: Sow onto a tray of moist, well-drained compost mix
• Cover with 4mm vermiculite or sieved compost
• Keep at circa 15-20°C. 
• Germination takes around 14-20 daysx  
• Ro-pot small clumps of seedlings when large enough to handle to larger pots. 
• Plant out in summer. 
• Directly sowing: sow 0.5cm deep in rows 
• Germination is weather dependant and will vary. 
• Thin to desired spacing
