Please find for sale a seed mix (200+ seeds) of British native species specially formulated to be healthy and tasty for Tortoises and other reptiles. 

Species in the mix are as follows:

Plantain
Chicory
Sainfoin
Vetch
Crimson Clover
Mustard
Salad Burnett
Timothy
White Clover
Alsike Clover
Alfalfa
Red Clover


The seeds can be sprinkled on seeds trays or pots/tubs/containers and when ready, the trays can be introduced to your tortoise allowing it to forage naturally. Ideally it is best to have several trays on the got at once so they can be rotated in and out as your tortoise grazes them down.

Germination Guide

  • Sow on trays of moist compost
  • Sprinkle a very light covering of sieved compost over the seeds so as not completely covered
  • Place in bright warm spot (room temperature) but out of direct sunlight
  • Keep moist, avoid drying out or waterlogging the growing mix.
  • Germination generally occurs in around 7-20 days  - will vary as so many species so some thinning of the early sprouters may be required
