Please find for sale 20+ fresh Custard Apple [Annona Squamosa] seeds also known as Sugar Apple or Soursop.

Although Custard Apples are a tropical plant, they are perfectly possible to grow here in the UK much in the same way as you would growth citrus fruits like lemons and limes - as container specimens in a sunny sheltered spot in summer and brought into greenhouse or conservatory during winter. I will be growing these myself and hopefully selling the plants next year.,

PLEASE NOTE: All orders received before 8pm (Mon-Fri) will be dispatched same day

Custard Apple is a tender, open, irregularly branching, semi-evergreen shrub or small tree.  Single or clustered, yellow-green flowers are produced from attractive foliage followed by the conical, sweet-tasting fruits. Sugar-apple is high in energy, an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese, a good source of thiamine and vitamin B6, and provides vitamin B2, B3 B5, B9, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium in fair quantities.

Germination Guide

If you want to speed up germination, lightly scarify the outer surface seeds with a metal nail file or similar - this helps the seed take on water and trigger germination

  • Soak the seeds in a cup of water for 24 hours.
  • Prepare some relatively deep seed containers (custard apples have long tap roots) with drainage holes  - supermarket plastic fruit punnets work well
  • Sterilise the containers and rinse
  • Prepare a light well draining compost mix  - ideally 50% sieved compost, 50% horticultural sand or vermiculite.
  • Place compost mix in plastic bowl and microwave on full power for 2 minutes.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Sow the seeds 2cm deep 5cms apart and cover with compost mix
  • Loosely cover with plastic dome (vents open) and a plastic bag with holes in for ventilation
  • Keep at between 22-28 degrees C in a bright place but out of direct sunlight
  • Ensure compost kept moist but be very careful not to overwater as seeds will rot.
  • Remove cover occasionally to allow fresh air in.
  • Seeds should germinate within 30 to 40 days depending on conditions.
  • Gradually remove cover to acclimatise seedlings
  • There are plenty of guides online on how to grow on Sugar Apple seedlings.
