Please find for sale 50+ fresh Scorzonera Hispanica seeds, also known as Black Salsify or Spanish Salsify. The variety is VRN Enorma - a very productive variety with long length and smoot roots. Popular on the continent, these really should be grown more on British vegetable patches - they are relatively trouble free and the taste is excellent -  think of a milder cross of parsnip and artichoke. Great with butter! Like parsnips, roots can be left in the ground over winter so you will have a source of frsh veg even in the darkest winter days!

Germination Instructions
  • Keep seed packet in fridge or a cool place until ready to sow.
  • Sowing seeds in spring once the soil has some warmth and risk of frost passed. 
  • Sow seeds about 1.5cm deep in rows 30cm apart. 
  • Seedlings can take up to three weeks to appear - keep watered if weather dry 
  • Thin seedlings out to 15cm apart
  • Weed and water as required during growing season
  • Roots ready to lift from mid-autumn/ onwards. 
  • Can be left in the ground throughout winter where like parsnips and the flavour improve with frost.
