Please find for sale 10+  Royal Poinciana Flame Tree (Delonix Regia) seeds. This stunningly beautiful endemic to Madagascar where it is found in dry deciduous forests and it is endangered in the wild. People fall in love with this magnificent tree at first sight - it is so loved in Florida that they have an annual festival to celebrate its flowering and in the Caribbean Islands the pods are used for fuel and called "woman's tongue" because of the rattling noise they make when the wind blows!! It is also all over the Canaries in public spaces and looks stunning.

Here in the UK the Royal Poinciana Flame Tree is best grown as a container specimen - brought under glass over winter. It is also a very popular Bonsai specimen, not just for its flowers but for its interesting bark.

Seed Germination

  • Lightly scarify the surface of these large seeds with a nail file or similar
  • Soak in tepid water was 24 hours
  • Sow individually spaced about 3cm (1 inch) deep in pots/trays of good quality compost (ideally 50% compost and vermiculite)
  • Keep in a warm place (20-25c) ideally using a heat mat so temperature is constant
  • Ensure compost does not dry out
  • Seeds usually germinate in 3-4 weeks
  • Pot on once large enough to handle
