Very much back in fashion now, (the 1970s association with swinging is just an urban myth!) Pampas grass is easy to grow and the foliage lasts all year round - just needing a bit of tidying up March and April and a light fertilise.

Seeds usually sown in early spring to allow roots to strong enough for winter. However, they can be sown all year round if the plants are in pots and brought inside over winter.

Germination Guide

• Soak the seeds in a glass of water for 24 hours
• Sow 6mm deep in a tray of good quality seed compost..
• Cover tray with cling film with a few air holes.
• Keep in warm place (circa 19-22c) but out of direct sun
• Keep moist, avoid drying out or waterlogging the growing mix.
• Germination generally occurs in around 21 days
• Prick out and pot on once large enough to handle
