Laburnum Anagyroides "Golden Chain" 50+ seeds | Fast Growing

Please find for sale 50 fresh Laburnum Anagyroides  seeds. The variety is "Golden Chain"  deservedly popular as the most spectacular Laburnum. Laburnum is also known as the bean tree, bean trefoil or golden rain tree, thanks to its hanging, pea-like blooms. The foliage is attractive, too – fine and divided into oval leaflets. I am getting excellent germination myself from these using the method below and will have plants for sale from Spring 2022 - see picture of one of my babies!

A laburnum tree in flower is a beautiful sight – the burst of dripping, golden yellow flowers in May is truly glorious and even better Laburnums are very easy to grow and fast growing, provided they are given a sunny spot and moist, well-drained soil. They are low maintenance trees that only need pruning if they are out of shape, and do not need watering or feeding.

Seed Germination

Laburnum seeds have a very hard, water-impermeable seed coat and require some pre-treatment high germination rates to occur

• Place the seeds in a bowl/mug and pour hot (not boiling) water 70-80c over them and leave for 12-24 hours. 
• Seeds that have been successfully pre-treated will have swollen to around 3 times their previous size. 
• Remove all swollen seeds as these will be damaged by further pre-treatments. These can be sown immediately. 
• This hot water treatment can be repeated up to 3 times, making the water a little hotter each time. 
• Sow in pots or seed trays of good quality compost at a depth of about 2cm
• The seed usually germinates in under 4 weeks at 15-20°c.
• It is important that temperatures or not greatly higher than this or germination will be reduced.
• Growth in the first year is modest, usually between 20 and 40cm.
• Plant trees out into their permanent positions after 2 years of growth. 
• Container grown trees can be planted at any time if given sufficient water. Bare rooted specimens should only be transplanted when the tree is fully dormant.
