2500+ Portulaca Oleracea seeds, better known as Green Purslane, Common Purslane, Pursley, Little Hogweed, Pigweed, and Verdolaga. Purslane has been used as traditional medicinal herb for millenia, and is now being rightly re-discovered as it is fast-growing, heat-tolerant nutritional powerhouse!
Why grow Green Purslane ?
Nutritional Powerhouse: Purslane is rich in heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids (rare for leafy plants) and contains high levels of vitamins A, C, and E, as well as essential minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium.
Thrives in Heat: It is an ideal summer crop for Britian's warming climate. Unlike cool-weather greens that wilt in July and August, purslane retains its crisp, succulent texture.
Low Maintenance: As a succulent, it requires very little water and is highly resistant to most pests and plant diseases.
Culinary Versatility: The tender, young tips provide a fresh, slightly tangy and salty flavor perfect for salads. More mature leaves and stems can be steamed or sautéed and used just like spinach.
Quick Yield: You can harvest the plant in just 4 to 6 weeks from planting. If you trim it carefully by leaving the base, it will regrow for continuous harvests

Seed Germination
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, or sow them directly in early spring or late autumn.
Fill seed trays or small pots with a well-draining, seed mix.
Lightly mist the soil beforehand to settle it.
Sprinkle the seeds lightly over the surface of the soil.
Do not cover them, but gently press them in
Germinates fastest in warm conditions - 21c to 27c
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Cover to prevent the surface from drying out.
Seedlings will typically emerge in 7 to 15 days.
Maintain consistent soil moisture.
Will self-seed for future seasons
Please note that Purslane is great to grow as a microgreen in supermarket fruit punnets etc, but it cannot be grown in sprounting jars due to the gelatinous nature of the seeds once they are soaked.
