Please find for sale the my last year's Fig Tree Plants (v. "Brown Turkey") that I have overwintered and are now roaring into leaf! These plants have been pruned to single stem specimens are now all about 35cms tall - the maximum size where I can keep the postage to "small parcel" but also ensure the plant is fully protected.  My 2yo plants in the garden in pots already have some fruit on them.

ALL PLANT ORDERS WILL BE SENT OUT 1ST CLASS ASAP. I SEND OUT PLANTS MON-THURS - I DONT POST ON FRIDAYS OR SATURDAYS IN ORDER TO MINIMISE TRANSIT TIME

Whist we might think of figs as Mediterranean fruits, we have been growing figs in Britain since the Romans introduced them almost 2,000 years ago! This variety of fig, Brown Turkey is the most reliable for the UK climate will easily grow throughout the UK right up to the north of Scotland and is capable of producing a heavy crop of sweet delicious fruit from late August.

Care

Best to re-pot to a large pot on arrival and to bring the pot into a greenhouse or up against a sheltered wall for the first winter or so. Other than that figs are pretty tough and hardy and will put on growth fast once established.

Whilst in the South of England or urban areas figs can be grown just about anywhere, they are generally best suited to growing against a south facing wall or fence. Shelter and warmth is the key to fruiting success. Once established they grown quickly and they will become a large feature plant for any garden. This fig also grows well in large tubs - which will be a useful option for those in colder areas where the tub can be brought in to a greenhouse or conservatory for the coldest winter months.
