Germination Guide 

  • Sow indoors or under glass in late summer through to winter
  • Sow in trays of moist well-drained seed compost, and lightly cover with  sieved compost. 
  • Wrap the seed tray in a plastic bag and place at bottom of a fridge for 2-3 weeks. 
  • Remove from fridge but keep tray covered with clear plastic or a dome
  • Germination can be very irregular - some seedlings appearing from as little as week, others up to to two months. 
  • One each seedling large enough to handle, transfer it to its own 9cm pot 
  • Plant out in final position in spring


Growing Instructions

Prefers full sun in a light well-drained soil. Will tolerate very light shade. Plant into final position
while the plant is young. The roots are often several feet long and do not like to be disturbed.
