Please find for sale 20+ Echium Pininana seeds commonly known as Blue Steeple Tower of Jewels and Giant Vipers Burgloss. Native to the dry heat of the Canary Islands, the changing climate is allowing this beautiful biennial to be grown in sheltered sunny spots in the UK. I have tried to grow these in containers and they do grow, but the definitely prefer the border to grow to their full height - especially up against a sunny wall.
It is now a popular sight in gardens and on roadsides in Cornwall and the South West, E. Piminana is perfect for adding a touch of drama to both exotic and cottage garden settings, as well as a large greenhouse or conservatory. Like all echiums, its flowers are adored by bees and other pollinators.
Please note: All our seeds are kept refrigerated in order to ensure they reach customers in the best possible condition.

Tall spikes of intense blue blooms are borne on strong branching stems in spring and summer.

- Prepare a seeds tray of sieved, well-draining soil mix
- Potting mix should be moist but not wet
- Sow the seeds individually 3mm deep and cover with sieved compost.

- Overwinter in a cool greenhouse, conservatory or well lit windowsill with temp. 5-10°C.
- Plant out the following spring 120cm spacing

- Keep dry over winter if possible to prevent rotting. Remove flower spikes after flowering as this will extend the lifespan of the plant.
