Please find for sale a healthy young Douglas Fir tree plant in  9cm pot. Ideal bonsai subjects or relatively fast growing evergreen and fine-looking trees for the garden. Can also be pencilled in for Xmas 2029 !! :)

Save yourself a lot of time - growing these from seed is not straightforward as their require stratification and they are slow to get to sellable size. 

Site requirements for garden planting

Fully hardy in just about all of the UK but can be damaged by late frosts so is suited to less exposed areas . It grows well on mineral slightly acidic soils of poor to medium fertility but requires adequate moisture and good soil aeration. It will not grow well on waterlogged and is not particularly fond of chalky soil.

The plant supplied plants should kept outside over winter - it is fully hardy Can be re potted in Spring but importantly it should be kept out of direct sun until fully established - in its natural environment the small trees will grow around the bases of mature trees and will receive very little sunlight.
