Why grow Coriander?

Amazing Culinary Versatility: Growing coriander gives you access to multiple ingredients in one plant, each with a completely different flavor profile. The leaves (Cilantro) add a fresh, citrusy, and slightly peppery taste, ideal as a garnish or in salads, salsas, and curries. The stems are more robust and they hold up well during cooking and are a flavor-packed base for Thai pastes and stir-fries. The seeds are the spicy, aromatic spice used in curry powders, pickling, and baking. Finally the roots are highly prized in Southeast Asian cooking for their intense, pungent flavor when ground into marinades and pastes.

Superior Freshness & Flavour Supermarket-bought pots of fresh herbs are typically overcrowded and not bred to last long, frequently wilting quickly. Growing your own allows you to harvest only what you need, ensuring maximum freshness, intense aroma, and better overall taste

Fast Turnaround & Easy Cultivation Coriander grows quickly and can yield a harvest in just 6 to 10 weeks from seed. Because they are compact, they make perfect gap-fillers in vegetable patches or excellent space-saving additions to kitchen window boxes

Germination Instructions

Sow seeds from spring through autumn
Choose a location with full sun to partial shade. A sunny, non-scorching windowsill is perfect if growing indoors.
Sowing: Because coriander roots are easily disturbed, always sow directly into the final growing spot or pot.
Use a free-draining multi-purpose potting mix or rich, well-draining garden soil.
Sow seeds thinly, about 1 cm (0.5 inches) deep. If growing in the ground, leave about 20-25 cm between rows. If using a container, a pot at least 20–25 cm (8–10 inches) deep is required to accommodate the taproot.
Keep the soil constantly moist but not waterlogged.
Once seedlings are about 5 cm tall, thin them out to 15-25 cm apart to allow for airflow.
Harvesting -  begin snipping individual outer leaves after about 4 to 6 weeks, leaving the central crown to continue growing. Stagger your planting every few weeks to maintain a steady supply of fresh leaves.
Seeds: If you let the plant flower, it will eventually produce coriander seeds
