Seed Germination

• Coffee seeds benefit from "pre-germination"
• Pre-soak the seeds for a day in water
• Drain the water and rinse in order to wash off any dead material or germs.
• Sow the seeds 1cm deep in vermiculite
• Keep in a warm place, misting with water as required to prevent vermiculite drying out
• One the seedling has sprouted and the tap root is a few cms long carefully transplant
• Pot on to individual pots with a rich humus based compost with some added vermiculite for water retention.
• Mist with water regularly especially when small
• Although germination may be slow (several months) once germinated coffee plants are very easy to grow
