Please find for sale 5 freshly imported Chilean Wine Palm seeds (Jubaea Chilensis). This is probably the best palm for growing outside in the UK - it is hardy down to -15c.

Alas these are expensive seeds, made more costly due to cost to postal as a parcel for these walnut-sized seeds. That said, with care these will be trees for life!

Germination Guide

  • Light scarify a part of the seed surface with a nail file or similar
  • Soak the seeds for 2 days in warm water (best place is an airing cupboard or other similar hot place)
  • Prepare individual 9cm pots with a 50/50 mix of regular compost and vermiculite or coarse sand
  • Moisten the soil before lightly pressing one seed into each pot and 3cm into the soil 
  • Keep the pots in a shaded, warm spot - use a heat mat if possible
  • Check the soil daily and add water as needed to keep it moist. 
  • The seeds should germinate within six to eight weeks.
  • Remove pots from heat mat once sprouted 
  • The seedlings are ready to plant when they develop a second set of leaves
