Cherry tree blossoms provide an explosion of white to pink that signals the end of winter. The fruits are of course delcicious if you can get them before our feathered friends, and finally their attractive and distinctive bark provides year-round interest.

Germination Guide

Wild cherry seeds have a significant dormancy within them so a warm and cold stratification must be used to give good germination levels. Not hard, just needs some patience:

Fill a small grip seal bag with some damp (but not wet) compost. Mix in the seeds.
Keep the bag at room temperature for 2 weeks
After 2 weeks place the bag in the fridge for a further 6 weeks
After the cold stratification period, remove seeds and plant them in trays or pots of moist compost about 4cm deep
Keep at room temperature and ensure compost does not dry out
