Please find for sale 2g (circa 1600+) Carrot seeds, the variety is the ver popular "Early Nantes". As its name suggests Early Nantes is just about the earliest carrot you can grow here in the UK - from February under cloches or March uncloched. Early Nantes is fast-maturing, sweet, and virtually coreless heritage variety producing cylindrical, blunt-ended roots that thrive in containers and shallow or stony soils.

Why Reasons to Grow Early Nantes Carrot?

  • Superior Flavor & Texture: they have a rich, sweet taste and a light, crunchy texture due to having almost no tough core.
  • Fast Maturing: They grow rapidly and are among the first carrots ready to harvest, often yielding crops as early as late May or June from an early sowing.
  • Container Friendly: Their blunt-ended, shorter cylindrical shape makes them well-suited for shallow ground, troughs, raised beds, and planters where space is limited.
  • Reliable Succession Sowing: They perform consistently well from late winter/early spring through mid-summer sowings, allowing for a continuous harvest from June to October

Germination Guide

  • Prepare the soil - weed the ground thoroughly then fork it over to break up any hard lumps. Remove any stones and rake to a fine texture.
  • Sow directly outdoors
  • Early Nantes can be sown in February if protected or from March
  • Avoid sowing in ground that has recently been used for carrots, as it may harbour carrot fly eggs.
  • Make a shallow drill about 1cm  water along the base, then sow the carrot seeds as thinly as possible along its length.
  • Space any additional rows 15–30cm apart.
  • Carrot seeds can be slow to germinat
  • Sowing small batches every three to four weeks will give you continuous harvests
  • Protect carrot seedlings from slugs and snails if possible, and cover the crop with insect-proof mesh to keep carrot fly away.

  • Thin out the seedlings if necessary, aiming for plants 5–7.5cm apart.
