Germination Guide (UK)

Sow seeds indoors around the same time as your other annuals, which is about 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost in your area.Prepare a seeds tray of sieved, well-draining soil mix - ideally 50/50 good quality compost and vermiculite or horticultural sand.
Potting mix should be moist but not wet
The seeds need light to germinate - Sow the seeds individually on the surface and gently press onto soil to ensure a good contact.
Do not cover the seeds.
Place tray in a cool, well lit location - ideally a north facing window sill in an unheated room. Do not use heat to germinate the seeds as they do not like it.
Seedlings should appear in 2-3 weeks.
Once the seedlings are 5 to 7.5 cm high, you can transplant them into individual pots to grow until the last frost has passed.
After all risk of frost has passed, you can plant the seedlings in your garden. Plant them  30.5 to 45.5 cm.apart for best growth.
