Blue Atlas Cedar | Cedrus Atlantica "Glauca" | 15+ seeds | Bonsai

Please find for sale 15+ fresh Blue Atlas Cedar (Cedrus Atlantica "Glauca"). Originally native to the Atlas mountains of North Africa, this is probably the most strikingly blue or all the blue cedars. Conical as a sapling, it broadens with age into a spreading, flat topped tree and is best growing as a specimen or feature tree so it can be rightly admired. Will grow in a variety of soils as long as prolonged watterlogging is avoided. This tree is also a very popular tree for bonsai.

Germination Guide

As native to a cold environment, these seeds require aperiod of cold strsatification for good germination rates.

• Sow indoors at any time of the year
• Soak the seeds in warm water for 8 hours
• Drain and mix the seeds with a little damp (but not wet) compost
• Place the mix in a zip lock bag and put in the fridge for 8 weeks
• After this cold period, remove the seeds and sow 1cm deep in pots/trays of moist compost
• Loosely cover with a plastic bag with a few air holes to maintain humidity
• Maintain a temperature of 15-18c
• Germination takes 4-8 weeks but is naturally eratic.
• Pot seedlings as they appear once large enough to handle avoiding disturbance to any smaller onces

Alternatively.......you can do it the natural way. Sow the seeds in pots of compost, cover with cause to keep animals of then leave outside or in a coldframe over winter. Seedlings should appear in spring.
