Please find for sale 50+ Black Eyed Susan seeds (Rudbeckia Hirta). Very easy to grow and in late summer will bring a mass of happy yellow flowers to any border or pot. Just about the easiest plant you can grow - although tecnhically an annual, they will self-seed readily and re-appear year after year. Seeds are harvested from my owns organically-grown flowers - actually a really fiddly process as the seed heads hold the seeds very tightly.

Seed Germination

  • Sow indoors in early spring (Mar/Apr)
  • Prepare a seed tray of moist sieved compost - ideally with 50% vermiculite or horticultural sand
  • Sprinkle seeds over the surface
  • Lightly tamp the seeds into the surface to ensure a good contact. 
  • Cover with a thin layer of vermiculite or sieved compost
  • Mist with water. 
  • Loosely cover with clingfilm with a couple of air holes.to maintain humidity
  • Keep in a warm light place circa 20c out of direct sun
  • Ensure compost does not dry out 
  • Seeds take 7-21 days to germinate
  • Pot on once large enough to handle and have several sets of leaves
