Please find for sale 20+ fresh Common Beech seeds [Fagus Sylvatica] seeds. These were harvested in late August / early September.

Beech is known as the queen of native British trees and looks magnificent both as a standalone tree and in decidious woodland. It is also really useful for hedging - fast growing and looks great both when green and in its beautiful autumn colours. Beech seeds are relatively expensive as they fall from the tree as soon as ripe and are immediately scoffed by squirrels and other wildlife!

Germination Guide

Beech seeds require a period of "cold stratification" to replicate nature's way of stopping seedlings sprouting in the middle of winter. 

• Soak seeds in water for 24 hours. 
• Drain away the water and mix the seeds with some moist (but not wet) compost.
• Place mix in a zip-lock freezer bag. 
• Place the seeds in the fridge
• Check weekly to see if any seeds germinated - remove and pot up any that have
• After 4-6 weeks the seeds are ready to be sown.
• Pot up in deep pots (Beech has a long tap root) that has drainage holes with a good quality compost 
• Gently water and keep them at room temperature. 
• Ensure compost does not dry out - best have in a tray and water from the bottom so water soaks up
