This stunning and rare cactus hails from the Andean valleys of Bolivia.  It is a small, clustering cactus that forms dense mounds. In spring, it produces a profuse bouquet of stunning pale rose-pink flowers that can nearly cover the entire plant.

Germination Guide 
Mix: Use a free-draining, acidic, and low-nutrient substrate. A standard mix is equal parts commercial potting soil, perlite/grit, and coco
Microwave compost for a few mins and allow to cool to kill any pathogens.
Fill small, clean pots and tamp down the soil gently to create a flat surface
Sprinke the small seeds sparsely over the moistened soil surface and gently tamp into the surface to ensure good contact
Sprinkle a very light, layer of fine grit or vermiculite just to hold the seeds in place
Seal the pot inside a propagator, clear coffee cup, or ziplock plastic bag to trap moisture. High humidity is crucial in the first few weeks
The ideal daytime temperature for Aylostera is 25°C - 28°C, with a slight drop to 15°C - 17°C at night. Use a thermostatically controlled ⁠heating mat or place them on a warm, bright windowsill in the spring
After 5-14 days, tiny green spheres should appear. Keep the humidity cover on for the first 8-12 weeks.
After a few months, gradually introduce fresh air by cracking the lid or opening the bag for short periods 
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged during the first growing season. Use boiled or distilled water to prevent mineral buildup and surface mold
